The Ravaged Secrets -- Chapter One
Thursday, April 20, 1871
Late Evening
As the ribbon twisted and twirled, Brigitte watched it without much thought. She had become numb over the years, and even the simplest mystics that she used to find enjoyment from couldn’t wake her from her detachment.
Brigitte, during this time, was recalling moments in her life that made her wonder how she turned out this way. Yet, no matter how many times she asked the questions, she already understood. It was how she handled the calamities that befell her, how she felt during those times, and how people around her treated her. She became the way she was because of the world’s affect on h

The Ravaged Secrets -- Chapter Two
Thursday, April 20, 1871 – Friday, April 21, 1871
Late Evening – Early Morning
The Master of the house left shortly after speaking with Brigitte. The old man had dangerous business to attend to that could not wait. It was unfortunate to leave his niece in such disarray, but he had no choice. He could not reschedule.
The Master had become rich promptly and easily. He sold whatever he could, including a commodity that could not be sold by anyone else but him. It broke a specific code he followed. He hadn’t cared.
He sighed as he sat down at a table he was led to by a lovely young woman who worked at the bar. A minor thought

Afternoon
Nathan knocked on the door of the Master’s office. He had been called there for what he assumed dealt with a matter that had been forgotten the day before.
“Come in, Nathaniel,” said the Master.
Nathan gritted his teeth at being called by his first name, but relaxed and opened the door. As much as it displeased him, if his employer was not willing to call him by a nickname he preferred, he couldn’t force his hand to do it.
He took a few long strides so that he stood before the Master’s desk.
“You called, Master Ayre?” he asked.
The Master looked up from the money

Afternoon
Nathan sighed as the clip, clop, clip, clop of the horses’ hooves started to become quieter as the carriage moved farther into the distance. He rubbed his forehead with his hand. His migraine had already started.
These side affects are hell…
Every time Nathan used one of his exceptional demon endowments, he would receive a migraine. There was hardly a moment in his time at the Master’s estate where he was not using them, so he often went through great lengths of pain.
As Nathan walked back to the front doors, he brushed his fingers through his hair, tousling it. He didn’t normally

The Ravaged Secrets -- Chapter Five
Friday, April 21, 1871
Evening
During the evening hours of the night, when the air was less pungent, a young man, who would have been more discernable without the working-class grime, was sitting outside the door of his one room house, staring at the night sky. His jet black hair, which was usually swept back and parted to the right side, was in his face as he held a bottle filled with a little alcohol that he had managed to steal. His eyes were glazed over from being mildly drunk, one eye bright blue, and the other pitch black.
He took another swig from the bottle and wiped his mouth with the back of his hand.
He wore the same outfit from

Morning – Mid Afternoon
Brigitte hadn’t slept that night. She stayed in her study and amused herself, keeping the curtains how Nathan had left them.
During her time awake, she had noticed something was off. Her vision felt different. It wasn’t quite as clear as before. There wasn’t a substantial difference, so it was hard to tell if it was from lack of sleep or a side affect from the day before. However, her hearing also felt slightly off. She could barely pick up on the house creaking, or the maids’ footsteps. Her sense of smell wasn’t the same either. The air didn’t stink

Morning
Even when the next day came, and the painter had arrived to discuss his pay, Nathan couldn’t shake the feeling that he knew him from somewhere.
It didn’t help that he had the defining trait.
“Welcome to the Master’s estate,” greeted Nathan. “I will take you to his office so you two may discuss your employment.”
Nathan had tried to convince the man, who was younger than he, to let him take his jacket, but the painter refused. It was bad manners, but apparently the artist didn’t care, so Nathan led him up the flights of stairs.
He couldn’t shake the feelin

The Ravaged Secrets -- Chapter Eight
In the days after John met with Silas Ayre, he had been searching desperately for other victims which resided in London. John figured that if he could find other folk like him who had been changed, and wanted to be changed back, then maybe the large numbers of them could convince the old man to return them to their human forms.
John had brushed up on the Demon Code only recently. It was a hard thing to find, especially if you weren't searching for it because you didn't know it was there. Despite that, John had randomly discovered it, and he had realized something extremely important.
Silas had broken the rules.
The Demon Code had few regul

The Ravaged Secrets -- Chapter Nine
For the past couple of days leading up to when Jasper would take on the job of painting a very well earned portrait, he had been doing what he usually did: trying to sell his paintings to others, and creating new morbid pieces; except things were different this time.
Ever since he started advertising that the old man from the Conqueror Estate had hired him for his services, people had been more inclined to give his art work attention, and even go so far as to buy it. Jasper wasn't too surprised from these events, but he was impressed that the senior had such power. He was even a little jealous, though that wasn't unusual for him. He often di

Knock, knock, knock!
Brigitte knew who it was, but she didn't want to open the door. However, she also knew that he had left her alone for the past couple of days after the painter had left with his pay.
"Yes?" asked Brigitte through the study doors.
"How have your side effects been?" Nathan questioned.
"They've cleared up," she answered truthfully.
Since the painter had come and gone, she had kept herself from practicing her ability. The end result was that her senses were restored to their original sharpness, but Brigitte suspected that if she continued to push herself with her ability then her five senses would become permanently affe
Hobbies: Um... I'm on the computer a lot, but I like to watch anime, read manga and read novels. I like to write too. Photography and video making are also a lot of fun :)
Wow. It's been a while.
I've had quite a bit of stuff going on that prevented me from being online. I can't promise that will change any, but hey, here's an update.
Basically, my parents split and I had to move out on my own since neither of them could financially support me. I've lived on my own while trying to graduate high school with help from friends, family, and my parents. I managed to graduate high school, and I'm beginning to move to the nearest city in order to work full-time for a year before I get started on upgrading some of my high school courses in order to be accepted into post-secondary. I'm probably going to have to surviv
So I managed to get myself sick even after getting the flu vaccine. It wasn't as bad 3 days ago (or so). I was able to function well enough to still work and go to school, but now I'm stuck in bed littering my room with tissues because my nose won't stop running. There's also the fact that I'm coughing up phlegm, which is in turn hurting my lungs and throat, my nose aches, my head aches, I more than likely have a fever, and I feel incredibly weak. My legs also feel like lard.
Other than that, I've been doing alright. I haven't got any new deviations to post, but I have been working on small projects. Well, two small projects: that Remembranc
Have you noticed the large amounts of deviations slapping you in the face? I hope so, because that signifies that I am back! Sorta. See, I finally have time to edit and share my photography, and I've been trying to work on a Remembrance Day short story. I'm currently writing the rough draft at the moment, but I'll be revising it a few times before I actually show it off.
I've finally gotten used to my crazy life to some extent, but there's still some hectic bits and pieces. I work, I go to school, I actually gained a social life, and I'm busy at home doing chores and helping out all the time. I don't know how people do all that and still man
